The Schützenhalle was built in 1899/1900. There are indications that it was modelled on the architecture of the former London "House of the Lords", which was destroyed by a major fire in 1834. The Schützenhalle is a large neo-baroque building strongly influenced by Art Nouveau and modelled on a basilica. The building is one of Lüdenscheid's outstanding buildings in terms of both history and design.
